Diagnostic utility of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in dermatopathology

چکیده

Differentiating cutaneous diseases that mimic each other clinically and histopathologically can at times be a challenging task for the dermatopathologist. At same time, differentiation of entities with overlapping features may crucial patient management. Although not seen in normal skin, plasmacytoid dendritic cells usually infiltrate skin several infectious, inflammatory/autoimmune neoplastic entities. Plasmacytoid identified tissue using specific markers such as CD123 and/or blood-derived cell antigen-2. are most potent producers type I interferons their activity therefore assessed indirectly human myxovirus resistance protein A, surrogate marker interferon production. In recent years, accumulating evidence has established utility evaluating cell-related parameters (plasmacytoid content, distribution clustering and/ or A expression) diagnostic tool differentiating alopecias, lupus its mimics, this review, we provide an update on current topic contexts where useful adjunct to reach histopathological diagnosis.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells in angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia

Background: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is characterized by irregularly-shaped blood vessels with an inflammatory infiltrate. While absent from normal skin, plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) infiltrate the skin upon injury and during several infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic entities. In addition to providing anti-viral resistance, pDCs link the innate and adapti...

Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells in Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the vessel wall and the underlying cause of cardiovascular disease, is initiated and maintained by innate and adaptive immunity. Accumulating evidence suggests an important contribution of autoimmune responses to this disease. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), a specialized cell type known to produce large amounts of type I interferons (IFNs...

Disease-Associated Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), also called natural interferon (IFN)-producing cells, represent a specialized cell type within the innate immune system. pDCs are specialized in sensing viral RNA and DNA by toll-like receptor-7 and -9 and have the ability to rapidly produce massive amounts of type 1 IFNs upon viral encounter. After producing type 1 IFNs, pDCs differentiate into professional...

Diagnostic Utility of miRNAs in Cancer

Cancer is the one of most prevalent and leading causes of death in the world. Current advancements in technology improve the understanding of the pathogenesis and pathology of cancers. But, due to enlarging mortality rates, poor prognosis, and lacunae in clinical early predictive biomarkers provide an important momentum to investigate novel early diagnostic/prognostic markers and spec...

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells in HIV infection.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are innate immune cells that are specialized to produce interferon-alpha (IFNα) and participate in activating adaptive immune responses. Although IFNα inhibits HIV-1 (HIV) replication in vitro, pDCs may act as inflammatory and immunosuppressive dendritic cells (DCs) rather than classical antigen-presenting cells during chronic HIV infection in vivo, contribut...
